Canons wide angle lens for the g3 is .7x. That gives 24.5mm in 35 format. Does anyone know if there is a wider option available?

Someone recently posted the following link with this forum:

http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egcanong3.htm

It has a x0.5 Superwide.

It also has Fisheye x0.24.

Sorry I can't recall who posted the info, but I thank you.

brucew,

I visited the site and the photos look great, would you recommend these lens? I have already purchased tiffens but would consider selling for better lens.

Frederique,

I can't make any recommendations on lenses, since I have not tried any yet.

I really only intend getting a teleconverter and am checking posts on this subject to help decide the best value for money.

So far your Tiffen is looking like a good choice for a Teleconverter. I could have used it a few days ago when I passed close to a hot air ballon on the way to work. I took 3 photos with x4 optical zoom and one with full x14 zoom. The x14 was poor, the others could probably take a bit of enhancement in software, but the subject was a long way off.

Frederique,

I tend to have a good look around before I jump.

I just checked this site:
http://kazutoku.cside21.com/G1andG2/telewide_eng.htm

which was mentioned recently by WSD223.

I am now leaning a little more towards the Kenko, since it has no vignetting at maximum zoom. At least on a G2. I suspect there will be some vignetting on a G3, due to the 4.0x optical zoom.

The above referenced site shows there is some slight vignetting for the Tiffen on a G2. Have you noticed this to be worse on the G3?

Note, the above site seems to have stacked 2 Teleconverters, to get 12x magnification on the G2. That would be 16x on a G3. A lot of vignetting though.
