I just became a proud grandpa for the first time thursday. :D :D :D I would like to learn some techniques for taking infant pictures. What lighting, posing and such. I never was much for taking portraits so I need a lot of coaching. I'll post some work as soon as I get a chance.

One thing is that you probably want no harsh lights or shadows at all. Consider hanging a white sheet horizontally over the baby crib, and then firing a flash up at it, so that diffuse white light comes down.

Congratulations !!! The birth of my son 3 1/2 months ago is what got me started in photography. I am new to photography myself but I have been able to get a few ok pictures. You might be able to get some ideas from my baby photo gallery here http://aryn.smugmug.com/gallery/650131 . The only tip I can offer from my whopping 3.5 months of experience is use higher shutter speeds because the baby will never sit still for photos.
