My current copy:
f2.8 = sharp
f4.0 = very sharp
f5.6 = VERY sharp
f8.0 = VERY sharp
f11 = very sharp
f16 = sharp
f22 = good/okay
Here's my latest findings: http://www.pbase.com/fstopjojo/image/45240719/original

I would say f5.6 and f8.0 are pretty astonishing. The others are sharp enough and I'd probably agree with the above. I use f4.0 and f5.6 most, though my initial testing showed f8.0 to be about as good as any lens I've ever had.

That's an odd color cast. I've never used the Sigma CP, so I can't speak to it. I'd try another CP and see if you get different results. You can always shoot RAW and adjust. At the end of the day, with digital, color cast is not a big deal because of P-P abilities.

That is ashame for what these lens cost. I must be missing something on how each lens in manufactured and assembled.

You know, the more I use this lens, the more troubled I get. Not by the lens itself---it's a great piece of glass, very nice pics---but by the focal length. I carried it around St Augustine, FL yesterday as my walkaround lens, and I was struck by how often I thought "Wish I had a wide angle right now" or "Wish I had my telephoto right now." 24-70 just doesn't seem to be as useful a focal length for me as,say, 17-40 and 70-200.

Thats the same thing I encountered on vacation this year ... I often was putting my Tamron 28-75mm back in the bag going for my Sigma 18-125mm. When my funds permit I'll be adding a faster wide angle in the 17-40 range.

I wish someone would make a 17 or 18-200 with f2.8 speed. I'd be all over that, no matter what it cost.

Not only would the cost break your back but so would the weight... :cry:

Funny that you say that. I always find i wish I would carry my 12-24 or my 100-400 instead of a std lens.
