I took pictures at a nephew's sporting event that are prcieless, but I accidently had the ISO set on 800. Now 8x10 or larger prints appear too grainy. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good program/plugin for reducing grain so I might be able to print 11x14s???

Technical info: Canon 10d, RAW format, ISO 800, using Photoshop CS to edit

Noise Ninja and Neatimage usually get the highest ratings from those in the know.

I use Neat Image.

Film has grain. Digital cameras set with ISO too high produce color noise.

To the novice, grain and color noise look alike, but they are not.

Noise Ninja worked well! At at least 11x14 size, NOISE not really noticable. Didn't try Neat Image yet, but thanks Bob for the explanation. Sorry for my lack of understanding!

I've been using the noise reduction tool in RAWShooter with quite good results.

Try Noiseware Community Edition. It works great and it's free!!!!

I like to break up my images for noise reduction. For example you would want to apply stronger noise reduction to say a sky area and less noise reduction to someone's facial features. I really like the way noise ninja has a history. If you want to get fancy, Scottes has a great PS tutorial for preserving edge sharpness when reducing noise. Check it out here
