Might this be the all-around portable answer for photographers on a budget?
BH sells them 45 bucks a piece...
cannot be good as they are cheap...or can they..experience, anyone

ISO 100 Guide Number of (surprise) 38 That gives f/3.8 at 10'. Seems like you'd need a lot of them for group shots, but I have no experience using them, either.
