Pekka,

I'm realy trying to customise EE and have delved into trying to change the layout of an indexstyle.

You have "don't modify this code" all over the place.

Any pointers?

Or am I insane. :D

Well, all I can say is all that in 1.5 indexstyle was not templated, and this is totally different in version you will soon have.

Warren, "you" referred to UncleDoug. He is in my test crew list. And please relax, it is just software. Having a life is more important.

I have EE running 3x and I have played/installed with it a lot. I love it. I was going to attempt to put it in Mombo but decided to wait.

I'd suggest playing with EE wrapped in mambo.
All you are doing is using the "wrapper" module to display EE in the Mambo environment.
And the wrapper is nothing but an iFrame.

A quick start....

Delete the code from "header.php" in languages > eng.
(This removes the navigation on the top of the page)

In EE admin > misc. settings set;
- Index page style to #6, news on the bottom. (This sets things up so that the password field will still be displayed)
- show "0" latest news (this removes the news from EE, since Mambo will be doing that work)

Mambo install is very straight forward.
If you can set up EE, you can set up Mambo.
There is endless documentation, very active uesr groups/forums, and plenty of add-on modules, components and scripts to keep you busy for quite some time.

Give it a whirl now. Otherwise you will be trying to understand two new things instead of one when the new EE is released. ;)
