A couple people in this thread

complain about the 10D not focusing on what they want it to focus on, in low light. This, apparently is in contrast to the D60. What they're saying is that while the D60 hunts a lot in low light, the 10D focuses quickly, but not properly.
I would like to determine if every 10D owner is experiencing this or just a few. (My motive here is that I am still on the fence between the 10D and the 1D.)
Secondarily, I'd also like to know what people consider low light (in EV's, if known), and what lenses (a f/1.4 prime or an extended zoom at f/5.6) people are using.
Thanks

Having both, my experience to this date is.
The D60 frequently couldn't even find focus in low light, when it did it was usually, but not always on the correct target. However, it tended to go long in low light with many subjects.
So Far the 10D seems to almost always find something to focus on even in low light, but tends towards focusing on contrasty objects. When in doubt my 10D also tends to go slightly long. Note with only a couple of weeks under my belt though, I have not yet formed a good impression, just a first one.
That said, I will take the 10D over the D60 any day in low light as I trust it to auto focus in low light, where the D60 I almost always had to give up and go manual. It still misses some, but not nearly as many as my D60. It also seems to work with my 550EX flashes better.
As to lenses, 50 f1.4, 28-135IS and 16-35L are the lenses I have used indoors (mostly lately the 16-35L usually at f4.5)

The best way to use your 10D in low light is to have the middle A/F point selected. You also must have a Flash unit on the camera as the camera is useing the flash's assist beam to achieve focus. Aslo you must focus on contrasting colors like the white of some ones shirt and the black of suit jacket at the same time and A/F will work on this camra every time. It is much improved over the D60. I have only had the camera for 4 days and have put over 1,000 frames through it and it is very much improved over the D60. Good luck and have a great day.

I have owned a D60 but I currently use the 1D and 1Ds. I also tested the 10D extensively when it debuted.
If you have the money and need the image quality, the 1D is absolutely the way to go. Focusing, handling, speed and image quality are not even close to being matched by either the D60 or the 10D.
Frankly, in my testing the 10D did slightly better in low light focusing than the D60 did. And for less money, that is wonderful. However, it is still not on par with the 1 series.
