Personally I really love this picture, so I thought "let's see what they think of it in the critique corner"
shot with 20D and 100-400L

A very good shot. It would be even better if you were "in front" of the eagle's eyes. The shot gets the eye sidelined so it shows as an oval instead of a bigger fuller circle.

I personally think this is a great photo too.....Damn only 6 more pay periods until I can afford the 100-400L:cry:

Flawless....in my view. I am keeping copies of my favorite 100-400 photos to keep me pumped up for the big purchase......and I've added this to the collection. Thanks for sharing!!

Nice, very very nice. 400 x 1.6 (20D) = 640mm 35mm equal
Does anyone know if a 70 – 200mm 2.8L and a 2x would give near the same quality?

here is the full picture, without resize.
all I did was cropping out some background, to make it a bit smaller
http://users.telenet.be/ggoole1/cdp/IMG_4467_no_resize.jpg (1.5Mb)
things I did with the picture posted in this topic:
selecting background with magic wand tool and do a layer by copy, that way I had a background layer and a bird layer.
on the bird layer I used a little bit 'noiseware', so I didn't lose any detail in the bird
and I did some unsharp mask
with the background-layer I didn't do USM and I used much more noiseware, to get the background smooth.

i really have nothing to critique, because to me, the picture looks flawless
so smooth and so sharp with a clean, fresh backdrop behind the eagle

Wow - that is sharp as heck - is the 400 prime really sharper than that?
