John's '61 Pontiac has a 389 w/4-speed trans. He's the 2nd owner. The 1st was Jim Stewart from Royal Pontiac & he was a well known street racer who turned in the low 13's at the time. John is building a 421 now & has a Muncie 4-speed & 3.42 rear end to put into it.

That's a nice and collectable piece of Pontiac history. :D
I wouldn't want to have to find one of those wheels though. ;)

The 389 - my friend had that engine in his Bonneville IIRC. Can't remember the model year, but I think late-'60's. It was a great engine, even in that full-sized boat (and many posters today don't know what a full sized car used to be). My '70 Catalina had the poopy 400 cu-in 2 barrel carb. But it was a convertible and I had great fun in that car.

Nice shots BTW.

PS - is that a '69 Chevelle I see in the background of the 4th image? I am not as astute on taillight design as I used to be, but I think (might well be wrong) that it belongs to that year. That era, for certain.

I think it was 1962 I have. Later in life (1969) the 421 evolved into the 428. Remember those? I had one stuffed into an 80 smog dog Trans Am.
It surprised a few of the unaware.

If I recall, the SD Catalina with a few mods could pull 12 sec. 1/4's right from the factory.
