these were taken during my first visit to a zoo in 14 years (usually find them restictive ).
i've just succumbed to taking my pictures in RAW, and although its more effort and time consuming to proccess them, i'm finding the results are better. however it is fiddly to reconvert them to a jpeg size suitable for posting and some of the quality is lost, ( the original files are great )
the Leopard was taken through 1/2" thick glass that was smeared on the cats side.
both were taken using my 300mm f4 is lens.
comments and critisim welcome.

You say the glass was smeared, maybe I am missing something, or my eye is not yet trained but those shots look so crisp and clear. I like the way the cats take up most of the frame. but that's jsut my humble newbie opinion

Daryn,
Thanks for looking.
the glass looked as though the leopard had been licking it and i was also having problems eliminating reflections, if i had been using a film camera i would not have even tried to take these pictures, thats whats so good about Digital capture. it pays to experiment!!
I also try to take pictures that hopefuly hide the fact their in a cage/pen.

I like the Cheetah shot.
Wouldn't you love to see it if you arrived at the zoo, and there was the cheetah busy working on the glass with a towel and some glass cleaner?

Thanks for the comments
the camera was a canon 20d, when i first got it i had read about back focus problems and thought i was having the same trouble, with use it would appear to be an operator problem. as my pictures are improving. ( thanks to this forum )
I had to hold the lens right against the glass, the leopard was about 15 - 20 feet away , when it walked towards me 1/2" thick glass did not seem thick enough!!
