View Full Version : Turning digital rebel on

This is my first post and it is a rather odd one, so please bear with me.
My wife gave me a digital rebel for Christmas to replace my old rebel film
camera. It is really great and all my gear is compatible.
Now for the problem. When I turn the camera on, it always comes on.
When my wife turns it on, it rarely comes on.
We have tried everything, but when she turns it on, usually nothing
happens.
Mind you, sometimes it does work for her, but mostly not. It *always*
works for me.
Thanks for any help at all.

Hmm, Your Camera Obviously is a little confused, as a Man can turn it on any time, but a Woman has some difficulty. I believe your Camera may be sexist.
All Joking aside, this is an odd problem. it could have to do with pushing the switch far enough over, or an odd hand position on the battery door, or some misalingment of the stars.
I would have her contact Canon and tell them whats going on, they may have some insight, or send it to them and have them replace the on/off switch.

Maybe she's not spending enought time on foreplay
Seriously, check she does it the same way as you. Maybe it's something to do with the battery door and how she holds it and then uses the switch.

Make sure she's using the on/off switch and not pressing the timer/one shot/multi-shot button. I've seen people confuse the two items because they are near each other and the on/off text is in between them.

Thanks for the answers. Case solved.
It was the battery door.
My little finger is always under the camera making contact
with the battery door. My wifes hands are too small to hold the
camera this way.
Anyway, I opened the door and found that the battery was
slightly angled. Therefore when I change batteries, I must make sure they are seated properly.
What an unbelievably simple fix.
Thanks for the clues.
