G3 pixel questions

I just shot my first photos today with the G3, after having a Olympus C2020 for the last two years. My Olympus was a 2.1 Megapixel. The shots i have taken with the G3 (all in Auto Mode) come out good, but not what i expected for a 4.1 Megapixel camera. photos were taken on L format with Superfine compression. I used my new Epson 2200 printer to print them on an 8x10 page. I used super photo 2880 dpi on my printer. The photos don't really look any better than my 2.1 megapixel camera.......and those in M mode, fine compression look ALMOST just like those in L Format, Superfine compression. What am i missing here?? Any tips would be really appreciated!

Hi beth, have you tried printing larger than A4?
That's where you'll notice the difference.
I went from an Ixus300 (2.1MP) to the G3 and have certainly noticed an improvement even on A4.
What printer resolution are you using?

You may also want to check the "film speed" setting. If it is set too high like 400 or above then the image quality will suffer.
