Of course, being a "newbie" on the G3 AND a wide angle lens.....another question requiring the help of the wiser G3 users......took some shots with my wide angle lens attached....when i put them in my photo software, they came out with the gray shadows of the wide angle lens. I had to crop the gray areas out on each of the four corners. Does this normal happens when you use a wide angle lens? So glad i found this forum, you will probably see me on it alot for the next few weeks!!

What kind of adapter are you using?

I am using the B-52 digital camera adapter tube that is not made by Canon, but is compatable with the Canon G3. Then I put on it a Wide angle lens made by Phoenix with a 46mm rear thread. I am a little new to the terminology. I wanted to buy the wide angle lens made by Canon for this camera, but the place i bought it from said this wide angle lens was completely compatable and i would get a wider angle for less money. Hope that is what you were looking for for in an answer.

well beth I'm not familiar with the products that you have for you camera. The problems your having is called vignetting. If zoom out a bit with the camera it should clear up.The 42mm rear threads seem to be a bit narrow for the G3.I'm not sure who sold you that stuff but it seems that they don't know much about their products.Your always better off researching for yourself before making these kind of purchases. This forum is a#1 in my book. Most people that have a G3 and buy the tele-photoand wide-angle lenses go with the lensmate 58mm adapter and the canon lenses. The quality of the products are first rate and you can always be assured of their compatibilty.Hope this helped a little.

Astro - thank you for your help. As i lay awake staring at the ceiling reviewing the day with my new G3, I thought "well, maybe if i zoom out all the way with the zoom while i have the wide angle lens on, it will work better. If you have a chance, please respond to my other question i wrote the same day on the G3 pixels. Any insight or suggestions you can give me on that would be most helpful!

Astro - it is a 46mm rear thread, you responded by saying a 42mm seems not right, but i have a 46mm. thanks again!!!

46mm is still to small in my opinion.....most people have at least a 52mm just for filters.GOOD LUCK
