Not the best effort but managed to grap the camera just in time as this flew overhead. Can anyone identify it for me??
Cheers Ricky

Unfortunately I can't but it's got a pretty cool paint job on it. I'm curious as to why that person is peering out the side..

This was last weekend in Belfast, Northern Ireland it was dropping off firefighters who were talking part in an Urban Search & Rescue demonstration. In the original large file you can zoom in and see that it says "NATO 2005 Kaplanlar Bulusmasi" whatever that means. But yes it is a pretty cool paint job.

Nice shot. It''s an Aerospatiale Puma.

Looks like a Super Puma. The guy sitting on the door rail is probably the load master. It's their (usually 2 load masters) job to let the pilot know how far away the helicopter is from obstructions such as buildings, powerlines or trees. Obviously at this point he's just in for the view.

It's also their responsibility to calculate weight and balance for loads. A fun job ;)

The internet is a wonderful tool. But yes I am an aviation freak. Spent a few years and Army Aviation Corp and the Australian Airforce.

The Aircraft Is an RAF Westland Puma, serial XW231 from 230Sqn at RAF Aldergrove.

It was painted up for the NATO tiger meet 2005 in Poland.

This is one of mine from RIAT05 at RAF Fairford.
