upload photos

hey,
i have set up ee. got the green ok for paths. image magick and gd1 are active. i uploaded photos just like the manual said. the images are listed on the upload page and is uploaded onto the server, but i cannot view them anywhere.

any suggestions

Welcome "Ikko" to this forum!
When the upload process is successful finished you can (and should) check and customize the photos. For this purpose you have to go to "open photo editor" (in the menu on the left side). As far as I am aware, the photo editor goes straight to the latest uploaded photo. There you can control and adjust the relevant information. Below the headline you find the "Display rule" where you have the choice between "Hidden from public" (RED) and "Displayed in public" (GREEN).
As always in EE do not forget to hit the button "Save changes to this photo" at the bottom of the page!

On the upload page you will have done Step 1 and uploaded the photos to the server. Can you confirm that you have aslo done steps 2 (selecting the uploaded photos) 3 (selecting the size paths) and 4 (selecting the gallery for them to go to). I assume you've created a gallery to hold the photos?

Also, which version of EE are you using?

If you did not get any error messages when uploading photos, and then can not see them (in public site or in editor) it means your path URL and its FTP path do not point to same location on server disk. Go to your server with ftp and verify ftp path to your photo folder. Also make sure that the photo folder(s) are accessible by www, i.e. they are inside "www root" of virtual server.

If you have trouble with above instructions, PM me info how to get into your editor and FTP and I can set it up for you.

The problem was wrong ftp path. Ftp path you used there uploaded the photos to folder "/www/eegallery/photos" when the http path pointed to "/yourdomain.com/eegallery/photos". I changed ftp path in ftp test and in path editor to "/yourdomain.com/eegallery" and now it works as intended. I moved photos from "/www/eegallery/photos" to "/yourdomain.com/eegallery/photos" to get already uploaded photos to display and tested upload - it works.

I also changed ftp engine to "EE Internal FTP" because it works better there.

Hope this helps.

PS. The only reliable way with 1.5 to know the ftp path is to go there with ftp and give command PWD. Next EE will have a tool to tell it to you.

As you can see the original files from the old version are there except that when i upload photos, i know they are there but there must be something wrong as there are no microthumb or thumb.

I think the paths are wrong. Can you please help me resolve this??

PM me info how to go to your editor and how to access your ftp - I'll go there and see what the problem is - could be a folder permission thing. You can PM me by clicking my name on the left and selecting "send a private message..."
