The sun is about gone now so I can't get outside and experiment, but I am hoping that someone with experience can pass on some knowledge.
I normally shoot in AV mode, sometimes M when I know the lighting is not going to change on me.
When I use my Flash I shoot in P and set the flash to ETTL. Anytime I have used fill flash I have used the on camera flash.
If I find a setting that works for me on the flash, say 1/16 power, could I leave the flash on that setting and safely take pictures in AV mode without having to re adjust? I know that if the shadows get darker or lighter I would have to reevaluate the lighting, or are the subtle changes in light when a person moves their face in another direction enough to make me need to reevaluate?
[EDIT] something I left out... I am going under the assumption that shutter speed has no relavance to the amount of fill flash used on the subject.
I hope this makes some sense. I plan on doing some more experimentation this weekend when I can get out into daylight...
Thanks in advance for any help
