Here's a crop at 100pc, 10D 1.6 sensor, handheld, 100ISO, f2.5, 1/1000th
This is not supposed to be a close-up lens... but

Carzee:
The second picture (the portrait) is a really nice shot (except for the cut off head).
The first picture (crop of the second) is OUTSTANDING! I would never have thought to crop that close in on the eyes. I can't describe the feeling that I get viewing it but I find it very rivetting.
It also serves the purpose of highlighting what the 135 is capable of but I like it more for the impact of the picture.

i like the cut off at the top, whats really outstanding is
1. the background blurs ability to seperate the subject
2. the fact you were able to catch such a fleeting expression. good show

Carzee,
Congratulations on picking a great lens.
Crisp is the way I describe my 10D 135L images. I've started shooting JPEG for casual shots to try and improve my exposure and focus control by forcing myself to be right on the money or else. After looking at some of my JPEG images straight from the camera, one's from my recently purchased 135L have the edge that I've been looking for, even at f/2.
For the 'RAW Only' crowd, I do normally shoot RAW only but I figure a perfect exposure in RAW is a better place to start - so hopefully my practice will make perfect.

Full EXIF data is in the JPG file.

Yup, Carzee, that is the typical WOW sharpness that I've only seen from the 135L so far.
It's really incredible. The 135L images I take by far need the least image processing. The auto focus is so extremely accurate, the most accurate of all my lenses.
Pturton, great 3D-like images, typical of that lens.

I am continually slapping myself on the back and congratulating myself for owning this lens. When viewing the new shots there's always one or two that get me, like the one above. Never seen that handheld sharpness before, mainly sharp = tripod and macro focus... and certainly scanning trannys and negs were never that sharp despite the dollars paid to labs.
I got my used DSLR in early April I think. Its a lot to learn, but I'd never entertain using film again (for my personal use).
But I want a WAngle that sharp too. Well, c'mon Santa Claus!

There is not Wangle that sharp.. the closest is the 35mm L...
But yep.. the 135mm is "dreamy"

In my experience the 200L is very, very close to the 135. In fact in my case I'm on my second 135 L, and I think my 200 is still superior. At least this copy doesn't have CA sticking out of it's ears, but I still *feel* it's inferior to my 200. Go figure. I *wished* I had that typical great copy!

I shoot almost exclusively wide open with the 135L, and even outdoors in extreme sunlight, I've never seen even a hint of CA or fringing. It's simply amazing.
