Hello everyone,

I took this photo today. Is this a Monarch or a Viceroy. I'm still learning.

I would vote that this is a beautiful picture of a Monarch due to the even white dots across the outer edges of the wings.

Nice shot Maz. Crisp& clear. It's a Viceroy. Notice the additional black lines across the hind wings, that the Monarch dose not have.

I stand corrected. Those extra lines are the give away trait between the two.

Image looks a little soft overall here but the colors are great and maybe a touch more USM would go a long way here also to sharpen this image up some, VIceroy!

That is a nice one. If it were mine, I would go back to the RAW file and try to pull a little more detail out of the dark areas.

Thank you very much for your comments and I.D. on the Viceroy. I have been working on the photo to try and make it a bit crisper.
Again, thanks for looking. The photo was taken with a AF70-300mm Tamron lens on macro mode.

Hello everyone.

I took this photo today and believe it to be a Viceroy. If someone can confirm that, that would be great. It shows a different angle from the first one.
Thanks for looking.
