She's a little bright, but nothing photoshop couldn't fix. It is distracting with her holding the leashes and them being cut off, though.

Agreed, too bright and no dogs can be seen thus the picture becomes average.

My first thought was 'where are the dogs'? I is definitely too bright. If you fix that and maybe crop the leashes out of the pic it would be great. Is a great picture of your girlfriend.

the leashes look tense and her body lean suggests force being applied, but her facial expression is calm. Shot might be more compelling if either dogs, leashes, girl all relaxed or all tense.
agree that the dogs should be in the picture.

Funny, they said it already. Where are the dogs. Could be, My girlfriend flying fallen kites.
The leashes leads us away from the picture where it seems the subject is supposed to be, and then its not.

Thanks for the good advice from everyone. This is the original photo though... I only got the tail of the dogs. Haha. Would anyone be willing to photoshop it so the picture will actually look decent? I would, but I don't have a photoshop program... anyone have any recommendations for just a beginner?

what lens did you use for that shot? very sharp, but too bright.

Photoshop elements or download a trial and try it out. I'm not sure what's available for free if that's what you're getting at. Here's my quick attempt at a fix.....still "blown out" in places, and not a heck of a lot better.

I would crop her hands and the leashes out altogether. Just too distracting. But be sure to do the crop through her arms somewhere other than her elbow or wrist joints. Cropping joints tends to be psychologically disturbing for the viewer.

Athena - You are right. In doing what you're suggesting it will result in a portrait of a nice woman.
The question will remains where or what with the poor dogs? ... :)

she's lovely
looks dreamy, if the leash was not there
I just tried this for a second if you don't mind
may be a little too dramatic
in elements 3 ...cookie cooker effect + texture in #1 picture
#2
'colourful centre ' , also with the cookie cutter effect
no harm done:confused:
hopefully

Marie - You did a nice job, especially # 2 is beautifully done. very nice to look at it.
This woman has a dreaming look in this picture and in # 2 it comes out whit the rest.
