Hello all,
Took this pic of my daughter this evening while we were practicing for her volleyball tryouts at school tomorrow and after downloading it I see this blue reflection from her t-shirt under her chin. I know I could PS it but I rather know if there is something I should do (or not do) to avoid this from the get-go. This was at the neighborhood park with some natural light before sundown and I was using camera's flash and Manual 1/125 ~ F/8 ~ ISO 200.
Any advise? C&C welcome.

Thanks in advance....Tom

I don't know of a way to prevent it. It's not that noticable anyway. You can narrow it down by working out if it's from the ambient light or your flash, from there you might be able to use light modifiers to stop it... but I doubt it.

As an aside, I would suggest that the photo needs more flash to make the face a little brighter, it looks a little underexposed to me.

Thanks Tim for your response. You are right, perhaps in a controlled enviroment one could use different lights to solve the problem but that is another story for me.
I thought so too that it came out somewhat underexposed and in fact, ambient was -1 and FEC -2/3 so it was underexposed. But I'm learning, and a lot from your posts and advise...
Thanks again...

300D - These are tough shots to get - never enough time to setup right. She does have a little "5 O'clock shadow" effect. You obviously have to keep the team shirt. Lifting her chin a bit might change the reflection values. not always convenient but a white piece of foamcore or collapsible reflector - out of the frame but close to her and angled up. As tight as you cropped, she could have held it in her right hand herself. Hard to maintain her 'look' though. Welcome to serious photography. Please post your next efforts.

I'm not an expert but you could try metering off the face!

Good luck
