While checking on a local brood of young female ducks (and picking up after slobs who like to contaminate our parks' ponds with garbage), I saw this Great Blue Heron sitting on drifting branches. As I was shooting a few still images, something startled him and he took flight.
Luckily, I got a few fairly good shots. Next time I just have to remember to switch my IS to mode 2 so that image stabilisation doesn't interfere with panning.
Still, I'm happy with this as one of my first bird in flight shots.
