Hi

i purchased my eos10d yesterday and was quite happy with it till this morning when i finally took my canon 35-135 lens off it to try my sigma 18-35 and 70-210(2.8).
both of them generate an error 99 and will not take a picture.
has anyone else had experience of this and how is the problem rectified, i have read vague reports of having to have lenses rechipped but nothing in detail (i live in united kingdom by the way)

this coupled with the fact that my expensive 540EZ flash only works in manual mode is making me wonder if this was such a wise purchase after all

any help would be appreciated

thanks

I got my 10D yesterday, and the first pictures I took were on a Sigma 17-35mm ultra wide. Awesome.... no problems.

On the Flash front I have a Metz 54MZ3 and it works fine on ETTL and Auto.

Try resetting the camera on the menu, and try again. Good luck.

What camera did you have before the 10D.

I ask because, I know that canon from time to time makes changes, in how the camera works with the lens (electronic !). The side effect of this is, that lenses other than those from canon don“t work right annymore.
There is more info, if you follow the link below.

James,

Apparently there are some Sigma lenses that will not work with some of the Digital SLRs without a factory upgrade. Also, any Canon flash units with the "EZ" designation will only work in manual with the digital cameras, you will need an "EX" model in order to use ETTL flash.

BTW the 10D works very well with the 550EX flash.
