Very nice shot here Leo, great colors on this little beetle here nice DOF and if I had to nit pick it which I almost always have to do I would have liked more room at the bottom of the image since this one looks to be moving that direction, giving it space to move into as this feels crowded this way and the extra space above and behind doesn't add to the image.

I agree with Dragonslayer, the bug is sharp and it's a good DOF, but the picture is not cropped very well. I like the colors too very much.

Nice shot Leo. :D Looks like it might be related to a Lady Bug?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I agree with Eric and sw2001 that it would have been better if there were more room on the bottom. Unfortunately, this guy ran so fast. I was lucky catching this shot. Thanks again!
Bruce - I don't know if it relates to lady bug, but it's pattern is very much like a lady bug. What's interesting is that this species has different colors during various cycle of their life.

Wonderful capture. Excellent colors. Well done, especially when it was moving on you.

Looks just lie the critters on my plants but they arent the things that eat the cukes. There's a tiny worm that lives on the surface of the cuke and looks for an open pore. Then they drill in and in no time youve got a mess on yuor hands.
I seen that beetle too and never had a camer when I needed it.Nice shot. Pitcher ought to be in the post office him and his froend the worm.

BE - thanks for your kind comments. Hope I can find more new critters!
ScreaminMimi - Yeh, this species causes quite some damages to corn farmers. Thanks for looking.

Leo this beetle and ladybirds are in different families (Chrysomelidase and Coccinellidae, respectively). Apparently this whole amily of beetles casue damge to plants - the larvae bore into the stems and the adults eat the leaves (Talk about exploiting your resources :-) )

I believe that this is a spotted cucumber beetle. Look at http://insects.tamu.edu/extension/youth/bug/bug072.html as an example.
edit:(Oops I should have looked at your title)
