Press Passes

I was bored and did a search for press passes. There are a whole bunch of websites offering "Press Passes" I was just curious if anyone has ever bought these and used them...

In NYC, the only Press Credentials that mean anything (get you past police lines)are issued by the NYPD (Police).

They are scams, plain and simple. They take your money and give you a fancy looking card that won't get you into virtually anything. Heard nothing but horror stories about these.

Most Press Passes are issued only by the body of the Event.
I shoot Nascar Nextel Cup and the Passes are only given out thru Nascar themselves.You even have to give them your Social Security # in order to get a Pass.Most Passes are only issued in alliance with a Sponsor or News Agency.

Here in Philly, the pass is granted by the Police Dept. I have on and have had one for many years but I have to renew it every 3-4 years....it is recognized thru the world. Those things you mentioned are as useless as the ASMP passes.......don

They're called "Credentials" now. (Unless you want to be branded a noobe!) ;-)
