I just bought the Canon 70-200 2.8L IS Lens. I was told by the seller that I could get this lens with a plastic mount or a metal mount.
Like an idiot I paid a bunch more for the metal. I really think I got "taken".
Is there such a distinction?

There is no plastic mount for an L lens that I'm aware of. Especially not for the one your talking about. What did you pay for it. You would pay a bunch more for the IS. Something sounds fishy.

Actually didn't pay too much. It was advertised for $1550 and I got suckored into $1700 for the "metal" mount. I did realize that BHphotovideo has it for $1699.

What steams me is the lie fed to me. When I get it next Wednesday, I'll know for sure I got the right thing.

Nope. This lens only comes with a metal lens mount. I've only seen plastic mounts on inexpensive Canon lenses like the EF-S 18-55 f3.5-5.6 USM, EF 55-200 f3.5-5.6 II and the EF 50 f1.8 II.

You probably ordered it at one of the many Internet scam stores, who try all kinds of tricks to make people pay more.
Check out the store you ordered it at on http://www.resellerratings.com
