View Full Version : First try at portraits (56k warning?)

I've taken many pictures of my kids but these were shot yesterday with the intent to get a portrait and try out my new camera. I'm lighting handicapped at the moment but learning. These were taken with overcast skies. Right now I'm using auto settings until I get a better understanding of the technical side of photography. These were taken with the Portrait setting. I'm not 100% happy with the first one because she moves so much that the focus ended up on the tree rather than her face. So it's blurred a bit. Also, it was taken under a small tree so no lights in her eyes.

what a precious little girl. I think you did a great job! Great catchlights in # 3, that one would be my fav!

I like number three the best! In the others her expression makes her look angry about something. Very nice captures though!

Thanks so much! :) And yeah, she looks angry in the other two, but that's more of her concentration look or the "why does mom keep making me look at her" kind of look. LOL 3 is my favorite too.
