TenaCJed,
Great shot of a bird I would love to see in person. They seem like they have so much personality.

28th of March 2008 (Fri), 08:47
Thank you all for the kind comments. They were fun to watch. I never did actually see them catch any bee's though. If any one is wondering, it is a White-Throated Bee-Eater.

Rubberhead: I really like the picture of the yellow-eyed grass. Looks like it just keeps going on and on with the specs of yellow everywhere.

They are mounted on wooden strips laying on top of the cabinets. I have under-cabinet LEDs too, but they're protected with a plastic covering. The ones on top are "raw" since you can't see them anyway.

Not sure this classifies, but I did shoot it because I was interested to see how the background would look, metallic paint it was only after I shot it that I relised it was also having lunch, shot on the side of the car. I just wished I had a longer macro lens even 100mm was not long enough

Slightly off topic but how do you pronounce bokeh? Bauk-ie? bow-key? bau-kuh?

Wikipedia is your friend! ;)

Origin:
Mike Johnston, former editor of Photo Techniques magazine, claims to have coined the bokeh spelling to suggest the correct pronunciation to English speakers,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh#cite_note-1) replacing the previous spelling boke that derived directly from the Japanese word for "fuzzy" and had been in use at least since 1996. Pronounced (Boke-aay)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh#cite_note-2)
The term bokeh has appeared in photography books at least since 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000).[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh#cite_note-3)
