I like the shot too, but if we are talking strictly bokeh, this lens does not do well at all. The specular highlights have sharp, well defined edges. A lens with good bokeh produces specular highlights with smooth soft edges that blend into each other.

No, I believe it has five.
Where are you seeing evidence that the image was taken with something that has nine?
Anyway, the EXIF confirms that it was indeed taken with the 50mm f/1.8

i think this has been covered in this enormous thread on at least three separate occasions and honestly, i think everyone has their own understanding of what constitutes as bokeh.

in my opinion (and there's a chance i am wrong), but from my understanding...the quality of background blur is best judged when there is a subject in the frame that is in focus.

Thanks, i just wish there wasn't a slight shadow on one side of the flower, i adjusted it the best i could but meh. Very nice too Gary.

it would look far too flat otherwise. in my opinion, the shadow gives the separation perfect dimension.
