gotta agree- bokeh king! really shows the difference between the 'quality' vs 'extent' of out of focus. it's all about how the bokeh adds to the subject matter.

Some icicles hanging off the bottom of my old camper. Shot from about six feet away with the 40D and a 500mm F8 Rubinar mirror lens. I didn't expect the background to come out so smooth.

C&C welcome.Typically bokeh involves at least one object IN FOCUS with it's surroundings out of focus. Usually having your subject extremely sharp - while at the same time the softer and "creamier" the out of focus area is...the better.

What about this one .. better?Yes, that's the right idea, however the bokeh I think on this one is average...you need less definition in the stems so that it doesn't distract from your subject.
