Does this bokeh constitue as 'good' bokeh or 'bad' bokeh?

I was always under the impression that 'good' bokeh is smooth, however this is not smooth, but I like it.

In the many, many debates I've seen in this thread over what constitutes true "bokeh," I believe this is a great example of what some believe is the real thing (versus the blurred/creamy background). If you do a search in this thread for "true bokeh," you will see links to other shots that have the same effect as yours. Great shot!

Great shot, Katodog! Nice bokeh, great reflection and cool psychedelic colors in the bubble! I was very tempted to try to pop the bubble with my cursor, ha.

Thanks. It was a pain in the neck shooting it, since I was using a 180mm macro, which is not the fastest focusing lens in the world. After I posted, I played with the shot. Ran it through Noiseware and it really cleaned up the shot...

The only thing that sucks about the shot is that I got the neighbor's daughter in the bubble, and not my daughter. sooner or later I'm going to do it again, only the next time I'm going to get my daughter in the shot.

Looked at this thing for about 2 minutes...is it a water droplet? (if so, good catch) then I saw a shape appear in the background...snail eyeball! Circular highlights are odd though...like little kaleidoscopes. What created them?

Not sure, I think it's because the snails skin isn't smooth, it's lumpy but moist. ewwww!:D His shell wasn't smooth either, it was ridgy.
I used my macro lens.

For my photos, you can always go on my flickriver or flickr, all the information is there and the exif aswell. ;)

Quickster, those are some great shots. The first one would be much better if it didn't have those flares. Were you using a UV filter by chance?
The second one is just awesome, unusual but very good colours for that type of shot.

While cleaning out files using LR, I found this photo I shot a couple of years ago of an orb weaver in my front yard. I thought it was pretty cool that both kinds of bokeh are in one shot.

You should try it. It's less fruity than the apple but the smoke is more dense which is why i like it more.
