Does this count as bokeh? I don't have a crisp foreground image, but i like the effect.

Yes, that is definitely bokeh .. there are two kinds, the blurred and the circles of light.

Wow! Love the bokeh! How would you compare this to the 50 MP f/2?

I can't say first hand but I believe the bokeh from the MP is smoother and everything about the 50MP is probably better (resolution, color rendition, contrast, flare resistance, build quality). But I got my Zeiss 50/1.7 for $150 off KEH vs $1200 for the 50MP :D

The Brown Shrike, Lanius cristatus is a bird in the shrike family that is found mainly in Asia. The Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio), also known as the African Purple Swamphen, Purple Moorhen, Purple Gallinule or Purple Coot, is a large bird in the family Rallidae (rails). From its name in French, talève sultane, it is also known as the Sultana Bird. It should not be confused with the American Purple Gallinule, Porphyrio martinica. The common name in New Zealand, used for the subspecies P. p. melanotus, is Pūkeko, which is the Māori name. The variant found in Samoa, P. p. samoensis, is called "manuali'i," meaning "chiefly bird" in the Samoan language.
