A few shots from the opening round of this season's FA Challenge Cup competition:

The cup-tie atmosphere was electric as the main stand filled up...

A bit of a goalmouth scramble...

It always helps to get to know your opponent intimately...

Heading the ball can be painful...

Manning the wall can be painful as well...

The visiting side put the game beyond doubt despite the 'best' efforts of the 'keeper...

A bit of a crunch to finish...

So, are the fans separated by gender? It is easy to see the excitement and involvement they have. As for the play images, they are a ballet ... utterly breathtaking with their Jete's and Grand Mal Plies! :-) Wonderful, wonderful.

However, just for you Dwight, you may be 'interested' to see that image #7 is in fact of a 'goal' ...

Hehehe! I wondered what that fishnet was doing in your images! I guess #2 has a suggestion of the end field, too, but it's hard to notice with all those guys clogged up there!

Any time I can! :-) But the next ShoBox isn't until late October, sigh. Right now I am sitting on my images from Al Green at the casino from Thursday night as I started eleven eBay auctions yesterday to get rid of my Nikon stuff and the questions have been time consuming ... but I've sold almost $3K with about another $1K I hope ... username is Wildthings-Dad! :-)

Auctions are going well. Truth to tell money is not the issue for doing WiFi, Gavin, it is time, of which I don't have nearly enough. Shot a low level country singer last night and before I could sneak off the wife of one of the owners was begging me to take over their website ... which is horrible ... and I don't have time enough for my current customers. But, since I shoot there for my Nashville To You buddy I am somewhat obligated, sigh. So, I would guess I may be giving myself a 500mm f4, new laptop and WiFi for Christmas at the earliest. Woe is me!

Amazing images Gavin.........as always you never cease to amaze me. Image 5 is FREAKY........I had to ponder that one for about 5 mins before I THINK I figured it out.
Thats an amazing capture. How long have you been a professional photographer? Just curious. Thanks for posting and all of your wonderful images and inspiration.

okay - just an observation - but there are a dang lot of players in these shots with their eyes closed. No. 10 seems to have the same expression all the time too. thought maybe the one team was handicapping itself to keep it challenging... you know - well play with our eyes closed and still beat ya... Can't remember which baseball game it was I was shooting early in the summer - but I came back with so many eyes shut shots - I couldn't have tried to get that many even if I had wanted to. Not saying anything wrong with these shot - but No 10 caught my attention and then I noticed the rest... nothing more then me trying to avoid doing what I should be doing. Cheers!
