Since there is nothing distracting in the way, I definetly say Horizontal. The deep blue of the ocean, light brown of the mountains, white clouds, sky-blue sky, and other nice colors closer to shore really compliment this photo well.

Horizontal is definitely the best IMO. The vertical image has the volcano (hill? mountain?) cut in half, which I don't care for. The second image is really nice, and if you did a few shots from a tripod you could have made a beautiful pano.

thanks! for some reason a pano did not come to mind. just thrilled that it came out how it did. next time a pano may be next.
