About to purchase the S2IS and wondering about memory card - Are the high speed cards necessary? worth the extra $? Can the S2 process fast enough to make use of the high speed cards

What about capacity - Somewhere I think I read read that over 512megs actually slows up processing for the S2. Advise was not to get the 1 gig.

Comments - recommedations please

Sonny - You can use cards of 1 GB in the S2 and higher. I have a 1 GB Sandisk EXTREME III SD card and it's working very good.
I've never heared that a bigger card slows down processing speed somehow.

If you buy SD cards you don't need the fastest one but the difference in price is not so big anymore, so I suggest to buy the fastest
one if you plan to do alot of movie's with your S2. Cause I have the (personal) feeling that the camera is working better and smoother
in movie mode with a faster SD card. For still pitures it does'nt matter if you have a slow or a fast SD card. Good luck.

A high speed card of 60x or better will be needed to make full use of the burst-mode feature on the S2. It will also insure that video at 30fps is recorded without issues. I can't think of a reason not to get a high speed card since the price difference is so little. I use a 1GB Ultra II card in my S2 and it works great. BTW, the video mode of the S2 is limited to 1GB of uninterrupted shooting (you can get 2 1GB videos onto a 2GB card).

hi, may i add that the manual also suggests a 'low level format' prior to shooting video. i have the Sandisk 1g in mine and i find it works well so far.
