Got my first pass to a concert and it was a great experience being able to lean on the stage whilst taking shots!
I used my 70-200 f2.8 which performed really well but boy did it get heavy after a while! I am not used to taking a so many shots in such a small period of time. The IS really helped when my hands started to shake!
Anyway heres a few to view....comments always welcome.
The stunning Rachel Stevens.

The settings are in the frame, ISO was either 800 or 1600.

Maybe i saw you there? Looking into the crowd i saw a few middle aged dads standing tall in a sea of teen and pre teenage girls. Obviously they were there to look after their young daughters but boy did they look funny. Most just did not what to do. Do they try to look interested, maybe a little dance? The security guards and i did have a little chuckle.

Well, to be honest i was quite worried about just how to get it right. As it was my first time in such a situation i didn't expect to get it right so i was pleasantly suprised at how most came out.
I used partial metering and AI Servo on the centre focus point. I kept this point trained on the face and pressed the trigger.
On the fist day it was alot darker so i kept the 70-200 wide open at f2.8 and just bumped the ISO up until i got shutter speeds over 1/200 in AV mode.
On the second day it was a brighter day so i used TV mode and tried to keep the shutter speed as high as possible. This was mainly due to the fact i had to run like hell to get in before the main act came off (should really have double checked the start time!!) So my hands were shaking and i was breathing quite healily.
(Note to self: Must get fit and loose 2 stone).

Thanks Jon for the info.I would normally use Evaluative metering. Keep up the good work. Darryl

Ha Ha! Im thirty five and still going to gigs regularly..... although, I have to admit, when I went to see REM the other week I felt like a whipper snapper! Very good for the soul! Id love to get into this kind of thing, Just started doing gigs at a local venue but I really need the lens you used here cause Im only diddy and get bumped about by the loonies jumping about at the front, ah.... roll on being able to get a pass. Anyone know how to go about that? Oh, well done by the way, The shots are all lovely and sharp. Be nice to see some more in a darker situation with the stage lights illuminating the performer, seee how the IS kicks in then! Thanks for sharing!

Hm, I know about Rachel, Lee and maybe Lemar. Think I accidentally saw a music video with Rachel the other day.

Very professional, clear, and crisp. You did a nice job. Concert photography is not easy. You make it look like it is. Mike

I agree it is very hard.
Having had some nice ones here i decided to shoot some more for a friend who is a drummer in a band.
I took around 200 from a 30 min gig which was indoors and got around 0 keepers!
It is definately not easy, i was very lucky on this occasion.
