Green "Grasshopper" or something else?

While on Fruit Market this morning I took photo of this green bug walking on all the fruits and vegetables. I really don't know what exactly this is. Any suggestion?

Yep, Praying Mantis. We don't seem to see those as much as we used to here in Ottawa. Used to catch 'em all the time as kids but now I haven't seen one in a few years..

The Id's are correct and it's a nice looking specimen, I only wish you could have left it on the fruits for the shot as I think it would have enhanced the image a lot here.

Thanks everyone. I don't see this speciman very often either - it was just pure lack. I went downtown to get some photos of fruits and veggies and got this one!

It's a mantis!


I see them, in the fall, at my place every yr. The female searches a place to place her eggs for next spring.

If you see one, take a little stick and wave it in front of his face...He hisses and strikes this realy defencive and demon like pose.

Hope to get it on pixels soon.
