they are terrific shots considering their size Steve
I love the first one especially but like them all for the different angles

love to see them

Thanks marie. Actualy the first two were with the 75-300 lens at a bit fo a distance, while the third was closer with the kit lens. I think the first is best as well - mainly I like the colour.
Unfortunately I don't drive one :-( :-) !

VERY NICE Steve. I like the first one best as well. :D I've always had to chuckle whenever I see the full flight of stairs just to get to the drivers seat on these monsters. ;)
Well done on a different theme for Transportation.

But that's not the biggest dump truck we make....... :)

On a side note, when I get a chance to go through the pics, I think I may have one or two of Marine One from Bush's visit last week or the week before (when was it again?) to post.

Heard around the plant that day......

(with a twang) "You people make a great product! In fact, I got a Cat at work back on the ranch! I'm not drivin' it tho." G.W. Bush

Engineer: "Those Secret Service guys LOVE these tractors! Logistically, they're great - nothing's getting through them!" (we had 60 tractors set up as a maze all around where the president spoke, for people to walk through, but to prevent any vehicular access).

Engineer: "I was talking with one of the Secret Service guys, and said, 'Wow - you get to be around the president all the time.' He said, 'Wow, you get to be around all these tractors all the time!' "

They make a mess of your car when they drive over it though!

Thanks Red, and that was only a 40 tonner :-) !

Yes, the 797 is the biggest. Also, the video that we have of it at work has a woman driving one - and all the fenders are intact! LOL (aw - come on - I'm only joking!) Weighing in at right around $3,000,000 US, I hope they stay intact, too!

What power! Somtimes it can be hard to gain prospective on how large they really are. Thanks!

Cool pics Steve.

These are the same trucks that are used at Syncrude in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. It's impressive when you see a regular dump truck beside one of these things.

What power! Somtimes it can be hard to gain prospective on how large they really are. Speaking of perspective, I just realized what a HUGE loader that must be that's behind it in the second shot.

Hey nice photos Steve, that last one is great......reminds me of the time I did a feature for Truckin' Life magazine on a one armed driver from the Muswellbrook mines. He didn't drive the big guys, just a normal semi, still amazing though.

No, don't have any 797 pics - they make that in Peoria, and I'm at the Aurora plant. I'd suspect that they don't get many photo ops, since it goes out in pieces on a train, and gets assembled on site. Same with the 994 - one of the largest wheel loaders in the world. Now that one we make in Aurora. I've only seen one together, though, since it goes out in pieces. Also, we're not allowed cameras in the plant..... though there are plenty of people with cam phones.... I have a 10d, though, so no need for a cam phone on my part.

Thanks Roger. I used to read that mag occasionally when I was at school. Don't recall seeing the article though.
Thanks for the info Rich. I knew they we're built on site, but I thought that there may have been a prototype or demo machine :-).
