Pretty good capture of a martian, Fee. I suppose there are lots of those in Texas. LOL

Who was watching whom?. Excellent shot, He was just waiting for you to get close enough for a Kiss. Well done.

Nice shot, well captured, it is a shame that it is not slightly better focused like you say, but never mind. I would still be proud of it if I had taken it.

Thanks Stan, BE, Alan, Kevin and Joe. Glad u like it.

You are right Stan. I saw a couple of them in a week, but it looks slightly different from some in another part of the world. The ones here in TX have curved abdomen but i have seen some with straight abdomen in different regions.

Ha! Love the pose on this guy! Looks kind of mischievious...makes you think "now what is he up to THIS time"

Thanks Dan & Dan! :)
The expression makes me almost want to attach a dialog in front of the mantis's mouth but i know i'm not creative enough to think of something funny. Perhaps i should start a "creative dialog" competition. :D

About time you posted this, I do agree it's a little soft here but the eye is sharp and that helps a lot, this should have been a vertical but I think we talked about that in the field :)

I love it! I'm thinking he's saying "You talking to me?"

IS that a mantis? Neat bug and its neat when you take a picture of a bug and you know its looking at you. Sort of like it is posing. Nice shot

Great take, these guys sure do seem like posers. To bad they don't like to hang out in the northern climates, would love to get some pics of them myself.

Nice shot cfc, I too love the expression. Could have been sharper, but still a pretty good shot I think. I've been looking high and low for a mantis or other interesting critters and not having much luck lol. Fantastic pose you captured it in, GJ :)

Whoah, how did you get it to do a sexy glamour pose? I think this belongs in the G&N section.

That could be a cover shot for Mantis magazine if there were such a thing.

Yeah, I know, I have WAAAAY too much free time on my hands. :D

Good grief a simple yes would have worked. LOL Nice cover! But it would probably not be a big seller since they are all religious mantis that pray.

Good shot.. One thing I like about the mantis is how far they can turn their heads...

The maganzine cover version is pretty good too :)

I have to run out and I'll be gone for the rest of the night, but if you PM me your email address I can send you the layered PSD file. Unfortunately, that is the full res since I only had the image you posted, but I'm sure you can enlarge it and drop in your full res image.

I'd becareful with the female mantis, I belive after courting they sometimes eat their mate.

So I would guess with a centerfold she's really just inviting you over for dinner...
