Hello, I have been admiring your pet images, fantastic dogs taken by the sea shore or in gorgeous gardens. I don't have such settings available, but do enjoy my "every-day" dogs' company here in Ontario forests. Today's picture gives some idea, though much of the detail was lost in compressing it to less than 150KB. While I'm not asking for critique, I can take it :). XSi on monopod, Tokina 12-24 at 24mm, polarising filter, 1/30, f/4.0, ISO 800. Just enjoy the lush mystery and the swampy fragrance.

I tend to agree - it seems more of a forest landscape with a dog in the frame than a shot of a dog in the deep woods.

Hmmm... I understand that you wanted to capture the scene and the "lush mystery and the swampy fragrance" but maybe there would be a way to do that and concentrate on the dog. If you reshot from a different perspective, maybe you could zoom a bit on the dog ans still get the deep woods feeling from the background.

Thank you for the feedback.

Next time I'll post in Photo Sharing (as per the sticky at the top of this forum), unless I have questions on how to photograph my dogs.

The setting looks really picturesque and really tranquil. Your dog looks to be having fun in the big pool of water too.

I think it is a good picture of your dog having fun. We have lots of pictures of our dogs doing similar things!

Thank you, Claire and frvryng. I have thousands of dog pictures and a few of the woods. I looked at this pretty little seasonal puddle but by itself it photographed boring. Had a fun time enticing the dog into it.

Nice picture of your cute dog. It seems so little in this garden.
