I see Canon's released new printers that use the new inks. But has anyone figured out if we can use these inks in the i9900?

Would be great if we could!

I hope someone's got some answers.

Thanks

Yes that would be nice if I could use them in my Pixma 8500

I have a feeling that there isn't a chromolife ink for the i9900 IP 8500. The IP 4200 that uses this ink has 5 cartridges. So they probably only make it in those 5 inks

I was hoping for a new version of the Pixma 8500, but I guess that isn't going to happen. The big question now is whether to spend $200 now or wait for the big boys to catch up.

I think CDS has mentioned they would be able to use them.... with a new driver needed only. Wish he would chime in here.

The new Chromalife 100 inks are not compatable in the old Canon printers. The cartridges have a chip on like the epsons. I have read posts that the chip will tell you the cartridge is empty but will continue to print if you have refilled the cargridge.
The ink shades are close to the old cartridges except the photo magenta and cyan.

Weink.com says their current inks for the Canon BCI-6 line is archeival, they also have Chromalife compatable ink. Check out their web site. http://www.weink.com/ecom/products/canon.htm

Canon has also announced a whole line of new printers. http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=103
