Is there ANYWHERE in this world a link for detailed description of
SIGMA EF-500 Super DG ? ? ?
(maybe chinese, latin, greek or south-bangladeshi or kisuaheli ..)
NOTHING to find in internet, nooooooo picture of the flash's BACKSIDE
I travelled to a dealer, flash was in shop's window, but shop was already closed. Arrrggh!
SIGMA's homepages show minimum information, most blahblahblah.
From METZ I can download complete manuals in German or English, but SIGMA .. and CANON hide their products.

Thanx, martcol!
Some links I've known, the link with users reviews is very interesting, some troubles with Sigma - but 1 year back .. NOW better? Who knows.
NO link shows backside :-)
It is important to know ALL - Metz 54MZ3 works also fine, even with 10D, it works with CANON 300, but - damned - does not work with CANON 300V :-/
I think, it's best to spend some money more and buy a 550EX :----( . Hard times for a SIGMA-fan http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smile.gif
Prices
Sigma=275€, Metz=299€, Canon=399€

Are you sure the metz 54MZ-3 works with the canon 10D?
Mine doesn't fully.
Pull the wide angle panel out, this will cause the flash to fire full blast.
Add a sto-fen to the flash, this will also fire full blast.
Use the fill flash, and it will not work either.

I moved recently from a G2 with 420EX to my new 10D. Quite frankly, I'm astonished at the way the 10D integrates with the Speedlite. Getting a good exposure with the G2 was very hit & miss. Now I really can just leave it to the camera with lovely results. I'm gonna save for the 550 as I think I can slave my 420 and if it's results are anything to go by, I'll be more than pleased.

You dont need the DG Modell with a 10D.
The Sigma 500 Super (without DG) works perfekt with Canon DSLR's.
The DG Modell is basicly the same with updated Firmware to spport other Digital Kameras (E-TTL). No added functions to the DG version.
Using a 10D i get almost perfect balanced flash pictures using a 500 Super, better as with my D60.
The 500 Super can work as a master flash (Sigma as Slave ore Canon as Slave). But you cant use a Metz flash as master.

I'm still waiting for my 10D and a EF 500 DG ST (not the more expensive Super) flash, but I believe I can tell you how these things work together in a couple of weeks...

Hmm.. you lost me here.. No added function but supports E-TTL. I would say that this is an enormous upgrade if it manages E-TTL....

It might be worthwhile to read this article (http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/). I have just bought the Vivitar 285H which will give me a reach of 60ft, although no ETTL. It's considered a workhorse and costs less than $100.
