First attempt at shooting moving targets. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

This is a great photo. The colour seems very nice but could you give is a photo to view that isn't so small?

Colin,

Thanks for looking. What size image did you hope to see? This is 800 x 533. I thought that this was about the right size for posting.

Thanks,
Jeff

The size that I first saw was 400x266. For some reason pbase didn't show options for any other sizes. Now that I see the larger resolution I'd have to say again, the colour is beautiful in the reflection. After looking at all the photos in your gallery this is by far my fav.
The only things I would do here is crop off the top where the colour pattern changes (About 1 inch), sharpen a touch and clone stamp the white line on the bottom right along with a few other smaller spots. That's it. Colour and contrast seem perfect. The smaller goose is a touch out of focus but I'm not sure what you can do with that. To me with the beauty of the rest of the photo it would hardly matter.

Colin,

Thanks so much for the kind words and advice. I will play with your ideas, sometime soon, and see what I can come up with.

Great Photo! I said "wow" out loud when it popped up on my screen.

Since this is the critque forum... It looks like the closer goose is slightly out of focus. Maybe it was moving too fast for the shutter speed. I think you used 1/45. Or maybe it was a depth of field problem. Was this picture taken close to sunset? You might have been able to get away with a faster shutter speed or a smaller aperture if you turned the ISO up a notch, but then there is the noise factor.

Also, you might want to crop this photo a little tighter.

Dave,

Thanks for the advice and the compliment. Yes, it was about sunset, and yes, I do have a lot to learn about DOF & aperture. Hopefully one day we'll get it down.
