This Butterfly has been hanging around my yard. Don't know what kind it is.

Nice. I consulted Peterson's Field Guide to Eastern Butterflies and the Audubon Field Guide to North American Butterflies. It appears to be a Great Spangled Fritillary, which should be fairly common in NY according to othe books. Probably a female, the males being brighter orange.
