I will be taking a trip to San Francisco in a few weeks and was just looking for some opinions on what I should/shouldn't bring. I tried a search, but I didn't come up with too much. I don't expect to venture too far out of the city on this trip. I am also thinking about picking up a Tokina 12-24 before I go.
I am trying to travel "light" (camera wise), so what would be the best setup for this trip? Thanks for your advice.

ILC,
You do not say what kind of photos you like to take, and what you do with them.
So assuming just 'general interest' and casual style/use... I'd guess your EF 28-105. Bear in mind, I don't know the newer DSLR equipment (been awhile since I used my old SLR).
I use a G9, and use the whole range of its lens (28mme - 210mme). I went back through some street shots of the Embarcadero St area and waterfront. I had some nice captures at 70mme and find that I gravitate toward 70-100. Still, when I want cityscape shots I add the .7x Wide adapter. And I've gotten good use of the 2x adapter shooting boats in the Bay and also some perspective shots from SF hills looking down on buildings 1/4 mile away.
One thing that might help you decide is to look at GoogleMaps and their street views for different areas of the city. Also:

Or hell, just bring all your lens and hire a porter/gaffer. ;)
Hope you have a great trip. Still plenty of sunshine and mild weather left, though later October may bring showers.

Sorry for not mentioning what kind of photos I like to take. I am mostly trying to take pictures of the sights, so I wanted to utilize others experience with the city to help in deciding what to bring. I expected to hear wider is better, so I am glad you mentioned the longer shots around the waterfront which is where I am staying. I guess I should just lug along a kit that will cover all of the bases. And its good to hear about the weather, we are going from the 17th to the 21st so hopefully the showers will hold out for us. Thanks.

[Mods... let me know if pics should be removed]
Here's some examples of what I was mentioning (from my G9 -- SOC), 35mme pic resized to 800 wide, and a crop at 100%.

CarloY, thanks for posting the pictures, they look great. You must have read my mind because I was looking at picking up a new tripod yesterday afternoon.
Ziggie & Mike, I have heard about how the weather can vary, but thanks for reiterating it.
I ordered a Tokina 12-24 yesterday from B&H, so it looks like I will be bringing that, the 28-135 and the 100-300. Not exactly traveling light, but I don't want to miss anything the city has to offer.
Thanks

You've got a full-moon coming up on the 22nd.

I just got back from San Francisco on Thursday night. We had a great time, even though the Phillies lost both games while we were there. Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and suggestions. I posted pictures in my dropbox gallery if anyone is interested.
