I like that they are just a tad off center. This is a nice picture that should be hung on a wall.

While im sure the intention was to create a soft effect, it doesnt quite sit right with me, perhaps a tad sharper. Otherwise composition, the intentional candid feel of what is obviously a prepared shot and the lovely out of focus background and out of focus foreground, due to small depth of field it really gives the photo a personalised right there with them touch and feel.
A note, rule of thirds here probably would have placed the shot to the left as the eye site of the mother is to the right, then again even though this shot breaks this rule, it still works as the baby is poised towards the left. interesting. then again, the mothers feet are right to left so its probably the right compose..... i like.
Perhaps recapture something similiar and over exagerate the position of your subect a little more to the rightand pull back a little, might accentuate the remote yet loving feel about the shot.
