Very nice shots, interesting bird are they common in Australia?

Yes, they are quite abundant here. They used to be known as a Tailorbird as the male collects spider web or other fibers and the female uses her beak like a needle to sew/stich grass to make living areas.

I like the second shot, just wish he weren't too centered like this though...

I might just have to do a bit more searching, I've never seen one :-( !

They are a hard bird to catch as they are quite small (9-10cm) very fast and normally stay in the low brush. Dang fast little fellows also, the bushes I find them in are quite often too thick to see a dang thing in them lol. Steve, shouldn't be too hard to find them over there as N.S.W is full of them except near the SA/QLD top corner. They are plentiful in pretty much every state except down here in SA.
They are easiest to find around wetland coastal areas in very low grasses or bushes. I need to work alot on my composures, I seem to always go for centre. They are very fast flying also, I'm still yet to get a good flight shot of them. These are from the same day but they are pretty poorly, I'll get more chances as spring comes around though hopefully.

Very nice images. I would have liked to have seen the second shot cropped a bit to see the bird up closer.

The inflight shots are actually very impressive as many small birds are pretty much impossible to capture in flight with their erratic flying patterns, I think the best shot posted here is the second one as it shows the bird calling and shows where the live nicely also.
