I really like the framing on 1 and 2 but something still doesn't seem right. Maybe your shutter speed was a tad too slow?

I like 1&2 as well, but they do seem a little soft. Were you using a 2x TC, or is that a misprint in the photo info (70-200@ 400mm)?

I used the 2x teleconverter for the shots labeled 400mm. The first was without the TC, but I used f/2.8 to get a high enough shutter speed to freeze the action, hence the shallow DOF. Same with the second one, but I used f/5.6 with the 2x TC. The first two were taken between shots of the sunset, so the sunlight wasn't very bright and that is why I used the larger apeture. The last two were taken a little earlier in the evening (and had fewer clouds) and allowed me to use a smaller apeture. I wished I had taken more pictures of the surfers during the day.

Nice water color. I like the low sun lighting...

my surfers (skimmers) didn't get many big waves on the gulf coast of Fla.
Would love to do some shots over there... maybe next year.

nice pictures! i feel very bad for the girl in #2 pulling into that right closeout. hopefully she cut back left to take advantage of that amazing line. good job man!

This is my 14 year old daughter during her first outing on a surfboard, yesterday on Maui.

Taken with my 70-200f/2.8 IS with 1.4 TC, handheld.
