Maybe Teffy or Matthias can help with this -

I have a Pro90IS with a Canon 500D on order.

I see from various forums that Pro90 users like the Olympus B300 (1.7 teleconverter) but it looks like being difficult to acquire here in Australia, so I'm thinking about the Canon TC-DC58 (1.45 Teleconverter) - recommended for the G1/G2, NOT the Pro90 (due to focal length?).

I have also noticed some people are using the Canon 250D - notably Matthias. This is also not recommended for the Pro90.

So my questions - how do these lenses work, do they work together? Can you stack the B300 (TC-DC58), 250D and 500D and in which order? Are there any problems/solutions with these lenses (eg must be used at max focal length).

Thanks in advance.

Colin.

PS - Teffy, thanks for your response re the bag. The orion looks good for major trips but I'm currently looking for something smaller for protecting the camera in everyday situations.

I use the B-300 on my Pro 90 all the time. It is fabuous! No discernable vignetting or distortion. It's as sharp as a tack. I tried the DC-58 and the results were terrible. Also, the OLY B-14 works well too. Good luck.

Colin, I bought the Olympus TCON-17 Teleconversion Lens for my Pro90 IS. I also bought the Canon 250D, and the 500D. I stack the Canons all the time for ultra closeups. Here is how I stack them. In this order--250D, 500D, and last, the Teleconversion Lens. Remember! You have to be at full zoom, otherwise, you get the circle with a black border. I also found that if you don't zoom at all, you really don't have to worry about the focus. It's weird, but it sure works.:D:D I get some real great closeups.

Here is a sample picture I took using the 500D closeup lens. and the TCON-17 together.
