hello everyone, just moved from Olympus E20 to 10D,very impressed with the speed compared to the E20. got a sigma 15-30 for bargain price of £370, guy at shop told me it is a good lens, is it?, never had a SLR before but what im wondering is that the camera i bought on saturday 29th march didnt seem to be focusing correctily. Did a test a friend told me about using a yard measurment stick at a 45 degree angle, and focused using the centre focus spot on the number 36 marked area on the yard stick (36inch). The numbers nearer (37-38) seem to be in better focus than where it was suppose to be focused. So i took the camera back today and exchanged it. Tried same test again with another camera and nearly same results. slightly better. I also did a test with manual focus and managed to get better focus results. Can anyone explain to me if the camera or lens is faulty or is it because of the f4.3 setting. Is it trying to focus with a wider depth of field. Tried the same with the E20 but at f2. and it focused where it supposed to.
Love the camera, and ive been looking for a decent camera forum.
another thing as well, if you switch to manual focus and keep your finger half pressed on the shutter button, as the image comes into focus the focus point lights up and the camera bleeps. Amazing, it actually tells you that manual focus is correct!
hope someone can enlighten me and give me some tips. Gonna be a while before i can afford another lens, but ive been bitten by the SLR bug.
thanks
Kev
