This is for general chat and off TPBM topic items. Enjoy!

Edit 07/14/07: For those who may wander by, stop in and say hello :D We are a friendly, albeit odd, bunch and welcome any and all.

Been a lot of sad news going around here lately: A friend's mother passed away, One of the members of the church choir's wife had ovarian cancer. My wife's co-worker and friend passed away, another co-worker of hers had a son in the hospital for pneumonia, my boss' son had a collapsed lung, and I found out the owner of a local restaurant we habitually frequent passed away this week.

That one was a total shock. I knew this guy. He was always friendly to us, when we would come in he'd smile and talk to Christopher. He was always present at his restaurant. Just didn't wake up one morning.. Dang. It's a family business so, I'm sure one of the kids will take over the main operations, but it won't be the same without him sitting at that one table, watching the TV as the hustle and bustle of the restaurant goes on around him.

Very sad Mike. I learned young how fragile life is and like many here have lost so many friends along the way. I heard last night of another one of the old crowd died. Live every day like you are dying, you are.

I had my own scares and scrapes with death including being told I had only months to live (they were wrong, suckers) and it put everything in a very different perspective. There is a lot I don't sweat anymore. Life is too stinking short, time to live it.

Very well said, Z. Just the other day I was thinking of my grandparents. Both in their 90's. What must it be like to know that you probably only have a few more years to live? Of course there are others that are not old that are in the same position. I can't imagine what it must be like. Darn depressing to say the least.

I would be concerned about some sort of twisting that they can't see on the X-rays.
When Montana had her X-rays done, all they could see was gas.
Is there any way that they can check for a twist in the intestines without actually going in for surgery?

not that I know of Cat, he is very old as well. he'll be 12 at the end of November, pretty sure we don't want to put him thru that but it is Billy's call. 12 is old for most dogs, very old for a large Akita.

Very well said, Z. Just the other day I was thinking of my grandparents. Both in their 90's. What must it be like to know that you probably only have a few more years to live? I don't know about depressing, depends on the individual. Morning.
I've spent the morning trying to find a good rated but somewhat reasonably priced dog food. We'd been buying kirkland for our dogs (it's a 3 star) but they've changed it and all of the sudden our dogs are coughing (like allergies) or sneezing etc. So, after a bunch of research, we're moving to this:
http://www.amazon.com/Taste-Wild-Prairie-Formula-15-Pound/dp/B000W5U5H6/ref=pd_sim_k_3

Has anyone ever used it with their dogs?
If our dogs do well on it, we'll probably buy the catfood version of it for the cats too.

Same news on the Joppa dog, lots of gas in him but no visible blockage. They gave him some anti-gas type meds and sent him home.

glad he's going to be okay. Will he always been on those meds?

Lisa, I know a few people who use that food, and they have high opinions of it.
Most of the folks we work with use Canidae. It's some of the best food you can get (in this area), all natural, holistic, and is supposed to be good for all ages, and all health issues.

We don't use it because it's too much $ for the amount of dogs we have. If we only had our dogs, we'd be using it as well. It's great for their health and their coats.

They have a cat version too, I think it's called Felidae?
